What to Expect From a Kitchen Remodel

A kitchen remodel doesn’t need to be stressful or overwhelming. Working with the right team and knowing what to expect ahead of time can make the process much smoother. Here’s a look at what to expect before, during, and after a kitchen remodel.

Before the Remodel

Before your remodel begins, you’ll be in the inspiration and planning stage. You can determine what you want and need out of your kitchen remodel, create a budget, and meet with kitchen designers and contractors. Your designers and contractors will work closely with you to make your dreams a reality, providing blueprints and 3D renderings of your projected kitchen remodel. Once the designs are finalized and a contract is signed, you’ll move on to the demolition, construction, and renovation phase.

During the Remodel

During your kitchen remodel, you may not be able to use your kitchen to eat, cook, or store food. You and your contractor will work out a schedule during which workers will be onsite completing demolition, construction, and renovation. When that is complete, they will install and hook up any appliances and fixtures and ensure they work. This phase also includes electrical, plumbing, and HVAC work, as well as drywall installation and flooring installation.

After the Remodel

When the renovation phase is complete, your contractor will ensure that any mess is cleaned up, construction and demolition products are safely disposed of, and painting and touch ups are completed. You will do a final walk-through to make sure that everything in your contract has been fulfilled. If anything needs to be corrected or amended, now is the time. If everything was completed to your satisfaction, you can start enjoying your dream kitchen!
